Rosés of Different Hues and Flavors

In-store, 5 - 6:30pm

Roses

For the hot weather arriving and the hotter weather to come, we have a sextet of enticingly different Roses. All are reasonably priced: some are discounted from the normal price. All are very tasty and worth more than our discounted price. Of note, the Spinetta price is valid only until the end of the month.

2024 von Winning Pinot Noir Rose

Pinot with a German Accent at a Great Price

The accent here is precision together with depth. Von Winning, one of the best producers in the Pfalz, makes an excellent Pinot Noir Rosé. We got it at a much lower price because the importer has the next vintage coming. As you will taste, this only improves with some age, as do the finer roses.

Color: very pale; Aroma: heady & deep, lightly dark fruited firm, expands to fill the glass; Mouth: clean, ripe and fruity, rounded, pleasant, clean, bright, and fine; Very Good Plus $19.99; Case, $16.99

2025 Chateau Sainte Marguerite Cote de ProvenceOrganic

A Creamy and Full Classed Growth Estate

One of only 18 officially classified Provencal estates, Chateau Ste. Marguerite is little known in this area. The 2025 starts crisp and clean but expands in the glass to creamy, full, and layered pleasure. It is the best sub-$20 Provence Rose we have tasted. You can drink it now or over the next two years.

Aroma: heady sweet full, redolent of fruit, rich and savory, some brightness; Mouth: heavy and rich, full, nicely creamy texture, good acid clean with a fine acid finish; Very Good Plus $19.95; Case, $16.99

2025 La Spinetta Il Rose di Casanova Organic

Special Pre-Tariff Price on Our Customers’ Favorite Rose

Giorgio Rivetti and his brothers make this Rosato of Sangiovese and Prugnolo Gentile from vineyards in the beautiful Casanova area of northern Tuscany. Its full, soft, and subtly floral flavors have made it a customer favorite. It’s very balanced, with a classic style —both aromatic and flavorful —and perfectly medium-bodied—drinkable on its own or with food.

Color Bright restrained Rose. Flavors and aromatics of cherry, strawberry, with herbs and lavender. Flowers and white pepper mingle, leading into a subtle, balanced finish. Very Good- Excellent $21 case 17.99

2025 Domaine des Corbillieres Touraine Oisly Rose Organic

Vivid and Powerful Find from a Newly Annointed Loire Commune

The small commune of Oisly has begun to be recognized as better than the mass of Touraine. Our friend Dan, an importer, thought that a bottle of this was served at lunch in the local restaurant was so good that he had to get the estate’s wine. After much cajoling, he succeeded. On tasting it, we fell in love with its powerful intensity, vivacity, and character. A blend of Pinot Noir, local Pinot d’Aunis, and Gamay.

Color: light purple; Aroma: heady and forward, very intense, vivid and savory, very rich and heady, bright on top of dense; Mouth: fleshy, rounded, full and bright, clean fine acid, good acidity, fine acid, lively and deep; Very Good Plus $22.99; Case, $19.49

2025 Torre dei Beati Rosa-ae Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo

Wicked Almost Red, Music to Your Tongue

A wickedly fresh and vibrant Italian rosato from biodynamic Montepulciano grapes. A unique style that ventures into a light red with backbone, fruit, tannin, and aromas of roses. Careful selection in the vineyard and on the sorting table gives a round texture enriched by fresh flavors.

Aroma: Ripe strawberries, cranberries, blood orange, hint of licorice, violets, and rose petals. Mouth: A total pleasure, round, full of energy, fresh blueberries, strawberries, blood orange, fennel, crushed stones minerality, well-integrated tannin, hint of salinity, and a long satisfying finish. Very Good- Excellent $24.99, Case $21.49

2024 Craven Pinot Gris

Technically Orange, but Full Throttle Rose

Mick Craven, an innovative young wine maker in South Africa's Stellenbosch, showed us this wine about a month ago, a white that has become decidedly red from 5 days of skin contact. Along with his other wines, this gets kudos for its impeccable poise and intensity. Full-bodied, we recommend it for stronger dishes and even spicy, marinated grilled foods.

Color: very light red, black; Aroma: heady and deep, reserved, pretty; Mouth: ripe and full, bright, clean, very nicely balanced; Very Good - Excellent $25.99; Case, $21.99

June Rose Case, two each of the wines - $271 $235 (19.58)

Or mix an y 12 of your own bottles at their case price
