2018 Mauro Molino Barolo La Serra + 2019 Bricco Ernesto Roero Rosso
Rare and Special Piedmont
August 21, 2022
We now have limited access to two very special and hard-to-get traditional Nebbiolos. The 2018 Mauro Molino Barolo La Serra is a single vineyard out of La Morra. Matteo Molino and I consider this to be their best wine. It is a very limited production, and we have the entire allocation for the state.
Meanwhile, over in Roero, we are seeing maybe the hottest wine in Piedmont. The demand for this is crazy. The 2019 Bricco Ernesto Roero Rosso is 100% Nebbiolo from a single hill. Renato Vezza and partner Samantha Giacosa are the owners. I was introduced to them by Giampiero at Il Centro a Priocca, my favorite restaurant in Piedmont. This is a very limited and very real find.
Both of these guys are passionately traditional third-generation producers.
2018 Mauro Molino Barolo La Serra: Dried violets and cherries. Silky, creamy texture with notes of white truffle. Wet balsa and clean evolving lines. Vibrant, complex finish with tannins of notable finesse. Outstanding 80/bottle
2019 Bricco Ernesto Roero Rosso: A wine of great finesse with soave and textured tannin. Expansive dark cherry fruit with earthy Nebbiolo florality. Balsam and notes of amaro. Creamy texture, spicy. Long balanced finish with very fine tannin and undercurrent of hazelnut. Outstanding 80/bottle
Mix any six or more special price of $408 (68/bottle)
