Elegant and Classic Wines of Cilento - a Different Side of Campania

Luigi Maffini's wines express the terroir of his coastal wind-swept vineyards, which are very different from the better-known, warmer sites of Campania's interior. They are lower in alcohol content and more structured. Also, Cilento's soils are mainly sandstone, clay, and marl, which give the wines a more mineral and fruity character than the intense vigor of the volcanic soils in Avellino and Taurasi.

2022 Luigi Maffini “Kratos” Fiano Cilento
This is a stunning, captivating example of Fiano with its crisp texture, vibrant fruit, and stony minerality.
Aroma: Honeydew melon, kiwi, lime zest, sea spray, crushed stones, and jasmine. Mouth: Vibrant, soft texture, packed with zesty citrus and mineral tones balanced with ripe orchard fruit. It is impressive that this wine is Luigi Maffini's entry-level Fiano. Excellent$26.99, Case $22.99
Rosso
2021 Luigi Maffini “Kleos” Aglianico Cilento
Kleos is all Aglianico with nothing to hide. The wine is fermented mainly in stainless steel and then finished in used oak barrels, as Luigi lets the fruit speak for itself.
The result is a classic Southern Italian red wine with great structure, balanced concentration, and polished tannins.
Aroma: Blackberry, plum, currant, cedar, violet, and toasted baking spices. Mouth: Black cherries, cassis, and black currants layered with baking spices and herbs. The tannins are pliant, and the acidity is juicy, giving it a smooth yet well-structured texture. Very Good -Excellent $26.99, Case $22.99
