In-store, 5 - 6:30pm

Meursault

Meursault

Our old friend Jeanne-Marie Deschamps is an experienced wine broker in Burgundy. She represents some famous names but takes special pride in her smaller growers. We'll present wines from six of them. Come for the wines and her insights into where burgundy is and where it's going.

Bourgogne Cote d'Or is a newer distinction indicating that the wine comes from the premium Cote d'Or rather than anywhere in Burgundy. Even more special, tonight's come from the growers' home villages and have some of the character of their more expensive wines

White

Meursault estate Sylvain Dussort takes special pride in their Cuvee des Ormes, which comes from 35 to 60-year-old vines and is made like their Meursaults. The 2021 is now creamy and rich, showing the effect of a year's aging in barrel on the lees.

2021 Domaine Sylvain Dussort Bourgogne Cote d'Or Cuvee des Ormes; Aroma: light fragrant, pretty, fragrant very pure, fine intensity, fresh and aromatic, lifted; Mouth: rounded, very lightly soft and soft and juicy, creamy texture, good backbone, very, refined acid clean; Very Good - Excellent $45; Case, $38.

Gerard Tremblay's wines are always spot-on reflections of their terroirs. The 2021 is no exception and is extraordinarily well-priced for a premier cru

2021 Gerard Tremblay Chablis les Fourchaume 1er Cru

Decanter "Deep in colour, with a waxy note on both nose and palate suggesting a light addition of an oaked component. Plenty of concentration and complexity here, with acidity and mineral on the finish to keep the palate fresh. Nicely judged, this will improve in bottle and keep well for three to four years. Drink 2023 – 2028"

Aroma: Flinty and hardish to start, very dry, clean, firm; Mouth: classic Chablis, rounded, very ripe, sweet, intense, full, sinuous mouth; Very Good - Excellent $45; Case, $38.

Roger Lassarat's 2021 Pouilly Fuisse brims full fruit and a concentrated acid backbone. It has an amazingly long finish.

2021 Roger Lassarat Pouilly Fuisse Terroir; Aroma: sweet and ripe green plum, fresh; Mouth: bright greengage plum, very rich with good acidity, plummy and fat with vibrant lingering acidity, very, very long; Very Good - Excellent $48; Case, $41

This 2021 from Pernot-Belicard in Puligny has a steely backbone but really shows its stuff with air and time.

2022 Pernot Belicard Bourgogne Cote d'Or; Aroma: steely young, no sense of oak, later fresh and intense with a strong acid core; Mouth: young brimming with intensity, fine mineral, steely, lithesome, firm minerality, long; Very Good - Excellent $48; Case, $41

Red

Maltroye Is known for its whites, but in 2022, it made an extraordinarily good red with rich cherry-plum fruit nicely balanced by good structure. To drink now and over the next four years.

2022 Chateau de Maltroye Bourgogne Pinot Noir; Color: very dark medium dark; Aroma: very bright and steely, fresh clean,  bright, tummy,  bright; Mouth: fresh intense, bright, bright intense smooth plummy very forward, fine acid tannins, clean firm, sweet fruit, intense smooth lightly astringent acids, clean fine tannins, bright; Very Good - Excellent $53; Case, $45.05

From her base in Pommard, Anne Parent makes precise and extremely well-defined reds. We have loved her wines in the past. Her 202s, although light in color, lack for nothing in character.

This wine, like others from the village of Ladoix, which abords Corton, is one of extraordinarily striking minerality

2021 Anne Parent Ladoix; Color: very light; Aroma: earthy and spicy,  firm, forward spicy and earthy, bright limestone over generous fruit; Mouth: fleshy, bright full, light, bright acidity, characteristic fine acidity, lithe and smooth, plummy; Very Good - Excellent $67; Case, $56.95

From two plots in the commune, this is good Pommard in all but label.

2021 Anne Parent Bourgogne Selection Pomone; Color: very light; Aroma: light cedary, pretty spicy light, fresh; Mouth: softly herbal, bright acid rather firm, nutty lifted and bright, Very Good - Excellent; $75; Case, $63.75
