Piemontese Nebbiolo, particularly Barolos, and Barbarescos, have exploded in popularity, followed by price. We offer two Albino Rocca Barbaresco and Barbaresco Cru Ronchi at prices they have not seen since before the pandemic. Just five cases of each at these prices.
Wines from Albino Rocca have been popular among our customers in the fifteen years we have offered them. In that time, under the direction of Angelo Rocca, they have gotten better and better. Critics now praise them as among the best of Barbaresco.
They are marked by striking translucence and expressive site character. The Barbaresco is fermented in tank and then aged in cask for about two years, and in recently, vintages have been praised for their purity and finesse.
2020 Barbaresco

2019 Barbaresco Cru Ronchi
Ronchi has limestone and clay soil rich layered with tufo. It was planted over 50 years ago, and some vines are now over 70 years old. Twenty months aging in 20-hectoliter oak barrels makes for wines with rich aromas, excellent structure, complexity, and longevity.
"The is a deep, potent wine. [that] impresses with its stature, aromatic presence, and textural intensity. Dark red cherry, red plum, cinnamon, rose petal, and dried flowers emerge with a bit of coaxing, but the Ronchi is one of the least-giving wines today. I would cellar it for at least a few years.
