Roserock

Years ago, I discovered Roserock Chardonnay, and ever since, I have returned to a fantastic and delicious expression of Chardonnay.  No surprise this estate in the hills of Eola-Amity, Oregon, was the result of the brother-sister team Phillipe and Veronique Drouhin of Maison Drouhin, Burgundy fame.

The Roserock vineyard, purchased in 2013, is an exceptional terroir, marked by volcanic soils, much cooler temperatures, and an ideal elevation range not seen anywhere else in the Willamette Valley.  Roserock reflects the singular Drouhin approach, celebrating patience and nuance, elegance and complexity, and above all, finesse, making this a unique Chardonnay reminiscent of Joseph Drouhin’s Chassagne-Montrachet.

Aroma:  A swirl of zesty lemon curd, white flowers, thyme, and a hint of ocean influence combine in a fresh and complex nose.  Mouth:  On the palate, the wine tilts to the lighter side of medium-bodied, with a balanced mix of orange burst, pie, peach pit, and a touch of vanilla.  The delicious finish is bright and round.  A very charming wine and highly recommended.  Excellent
